Yuzhmorgeologiya, a subsidiary of RosGeo, is the Russian market leader in in terms of the transit area operations

Service provided by
COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES:
  • Adequate supply of equipment and highly qualified staff
  • Experience in operations in complicated conditions of the Caspian, Azov and Black Seas as well as in the Russian shelf of the Arctic and India, and the shelf of the Kingdom of Bahrain
  • In-house fleet designed to conduct the seismic surveys in shallow water zones (handling vessels, source vessels)
  • Possibility of taking out the receiver system onshore to acquire seamless survey “onshore-offshore” to link geophysical data obtained earlier when processing onshore profiles as well as optimal fold build-up at the profiles ends
  • Advanced equipment for operation in transit areas according to the world standards
  • Application of own technical and methodological solutions to improve quality of seismic material being obtained
  • Active cooperation with leading national organizations in replacement of import
Field teams of RosGeo have equipment which ensure obtaining high-quality data when carrying out 2D and 3D operations in transit areas
  • Seismic equipment ARAM ARIES II (single- and double component)
  • High production compressor equipment
  • Pneumatic sources BOLT 1900/2800 LL and Malysh of various volumes
  • Underwater navigation system Sonardyne
  • Z-Land system for seamless onshore-marine survey
  • Bottom seismic stations Magseis Fairfield
  • Modern high-precision navigation and geodetic equipment: Trimble, Valeport, Pacific Crest ect.
Yuzhmorgeologiya presents an innovative area of research which is based on the use of modern multi-component and radio&telemetry systems for data acquisition.
Seamless onshore-offshore acquisition technology

Shallow water areas of the Russian shelf comprise over 700,000 km2. They are underexplored due to complexity of natural conditions which hindering traditional methodologies.

  • Possibility of acquisition of high-quality data in hardly accessible regions of maximum shallowness
  • Saving of resources and time due to the use of wireless methodologies
  • Mobility and maneuvering capabilities owing to the use of small floating craft
  • Reduction and exclusion of environmental damage

The technology is effectively applied in conditions of coastal marshland, reed swamps, estuaries, floodable onshore areas, shallow water, river delta, outer shallow banks, wide tidal and littoral areas.

Using this technology, we managed successfully:

  • to explore the Gulf of Taganrog of the Azov Sea by geophysical methods
  • to select about 40 pay horizons based on obtained data on the deep structure of the Azov Sea (Lower Mesozoic – Paleozoic)
  • to receive new data about geological structure of maximum shallow water of the northern Caspian Sea and the Volga River delta
  • to connect Yamal and Gydan Peninsulas with offshore profiles by regional studies
  • to study in detail the Paleozoic deposits in the Ob Bay of the Kara Sea

More details on types of activities

The use of independent bottom systems ensure the work on above-water hurdles which hinders working with bay cables, ensures complete and even distribution of azimuths and offset, high precision of recording and perfect contact with the receiving surface, low level of natural noises and high repeatability in 4D operations. At this, high resolution and broad frequency band are achieved.

At present, the companies implement bottom instrument sets for 4-component 2D, 3D and 4D seismic measurements.

The 4-component bottom instrumentation registers P and PS waves to allow to obtain:

  • images that are shielded by gas deposits/gas sands
  • images of acoustically transparent structures for P waves
  • images in areas heavy with multiple responses

4С bottom systems

The use of the cable bottom system ARAM ARIES II allows to receive seismic data in real time as well as to monitor noises to select the most suitable time of operation in conditions of high level of man-induced and natural noises.

The use of two-component bottom instrumentation helps suppression of ghost waves in PP as well as suppression of bottom ringing waves due to application of the geophone and hydrophone components summation procedure (P-Z summation).
