Geologists of North-West PGO (Saint-Petersburg, a subsidiary of a state-owned holding RosGeo) entered the final phase of field prospecting for platinum group metals within the Poaz array of Monchegorsk ore region (Murmansk region). The explorations are conducted in accordance with the public contract funded from the federal budget.
“Since the beginning of the work started in 2018, we have drilled the wells totaling in 3956,5 linear meters on the ore development," said Oleg Vasin, Managing Director of RosGeo. - All wells have been documented and tested. We have received the first results of 300 core samples. According to drilling data the ore zone thickness increased by 2 times in comparison with mining. The new geological data obtained for the Poaz site confirms the unique resources of the deposit for platinoids."
The major results of the project shall be the proven perspective resources of platinum group metals and associated components, such as gold, nickel and copper in categories P1+P2.
A specific feature of the reef horizons is sustainable capacity content and qualitative composition of the mineralization for tens of kilometers. The ore manifestations refer to the deposits of the 1-st group in complexity. The site is located in 3-5 km from the city line of Monchegorsk. The survey area is 11,1 square kilometers.
This work is scheduled to be completed in 2020.
